Pet peeves

Alright, so i figure my biggest pet peeve would have to be working with my dad. I guess it's mostly due to the fact that i'm forced to go get anything he needs to do the job. I've thought for a long time about this and i have come to the conclusion that it's because he doesn't want to go into our garage and get it himself. You have to understand that my garage is comparable to Hiroshima after it got nuked, dead serious here, the mess inside is THAT bad. Here's a drawing to show what i mean...

the empty boxes are just piles of junk and the like and despite the fact that the door is at the bottom of the picture that's the back of the garage and the top is the front...in other words the part that the cars go in and that's facing our driveway is the back.

So i'll be helping him and he'll ask me to get the thing that he needs...that's right...the thing. He won't say something like screwdriver or hammer, nope they're all a thing. and when i ask him where it is...it's in the garage, by the thing. so basically a conversation would go something like this...
dad- "go get me the thing"
me- "what thing?"
dad- "the thing that i need"
me- "because that helps?"
dad- "a 7/16 wrench..."
me- "ok. so where is it?"
dad- "in the garage"
me- "that doesn't help much...where in the garage?"
dad- "by the thing"
me- "the thing? what thing?
dad- "it's the thing on the thing over by the thing" (i'm not kidding, he HAS said this before)
me- "um...what???"
dad- "it's in the............." *very long pause, he turns away and starts working again*
me- "dad?"
dad- "what?"
me- "you didn't finish your sentence"
Eventually i get fed up with this and go to the garage and sit down for 10 minutes before coming back out and saying i can't find it, usually i can get away with doing this a couple times before he goes and gets what he needs himself.

generally this is why i avoid helping him directly at all costs, it just avoids all confusion and makes things easier.
